The Singapore Green Landscape 2010 published last year by Green Future Solutions was well-received and was downloaded 970 times over the past year.

This year, the Singapore Green Landscape 2011 provides a review of 80 key environmental news in Singapore last year, and gives an overview of 160 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), green groups, business associations and groups, green websites, government agencies, and institutes and centres in Singapore, which are related to the environment (50 more than last year).

Green Future Solutions hopes that this publication is useful for everyone who wishes to know more about the state of the environment in Singapore, find and connect with the environmental organisations in Singapore, or explore personal and business opportunities.

We want to focus on our original idea for setting up AsiaIsGreen, a place to share green news and thoughts by Asians or those staying in Asia. We want the people in Asia to share about their environmental problems, ideas, solutions and thoughts. We want to connect and inspire everyone in Asia to take action and work towards a green future. And we want to tell the world that there are people in Asia doing their part for the planet too.

We want to help people in Singapore and Asia take actions through our 7 Habits of Green Conscious People. We have compiled a list of 7 habits that we find common in friends who are green conscious and environmentally aware. Everyone can learn the 7 habits and take action to improve and protect the environment.

Details on the 7 habits will be available soon. The 7 habits build on the 6 steps from the ebook, What On Earth Are You Doing?, and the Squidoo lens, 6 Habits of Green Conscious People.

3. New Websites on Zero Waste and Clean Energy

We want to start two new websites based on our vision of:

• Zero Waste for Singapore by 2030 through Redesign, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover
• Clean Energy for Singapore by 2030 through the Four National Switches

Through the websites, we will show you the bright green future for waste and energy in Singapore and our proposed plans to create that future, connect you to people with similar interest, share what you can do to play a part, and find ways to influence the stakeholders. We want to create a future with zero waste and clean energy within our lifetime. We are tired of waiting and seeing targetless promises, so it’s time to act now.

Green Business Times

Our aim is to provide environmental information and resources for companies, business leaders and professionals to take action in reducing their environmental impacts and implementing green business strategies and practices. Our resources are also useful for schools, governmental organisations, non-governmental organisations, academics and other interested parties who wish to understand more about business and the environment.

An introduction to the IMCSD from the website:

The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Sustainable Development (IMCSD) was set up in Feb 2008 to formulate a clear national framework and strategy for Singapore’s sustainable development in the context of the emerging domestic and global challenges.

The IMCSD is co-chaired by the Minister for National Development Mr. Mah Bow Tan, and the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim. The members are: the Minister for Finance Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the Minister for Transport Mr. Raymond Lim, and Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry Mr. S Iswaran.

The IMCSD will be studying ways to be more sustainable in the way we Work, Commute, Live and Play. Under each category, the IMCSD would be looking at some key issues.

For Live/Play, the key issues involve:

• Land Use Planning
• City of Gardens and Water
• Haven for Urban Biodiversity
• Water Conservation
• Energy Efficient Buildings
• Sustainable Public Housing
• Social Ownership

For Work, the key issues involve:

• Energy Efficiency
• Waste Management and Recycling
• Water for Non-Domestic Sector
